Dreams are not to be made..

Dear Diary,

I was cleaning up my blog and found this unpublished post in the ‘Drafts’ section. It looks like once upon 2017 I was going to write something about the dreams and reasons why we should and shouldn’t make them.

So here it is.

I read in one of the blogs I follow (@Her Sane Insanity)

When your dreams come true, your true has moved.

When your dreams come true, your true has moved. You’ve already stopped being the person who had the dreams, so it feels more like a weird echo of something that has already happened to you a long time ago.

And this passage resonated with me.

It is true, don’t you think? Life does not stop. Earth does not stop revolving around the Sun. Life and people do not stop around us. Events keep happening. We keep growing older and wiser. We move about and move on. So, how can our dreams be set in the dreamland stone?

It’s like me and my red car. Once I got my red car I realised that I should have made a more vague dream of a new car, not a very exact one as to what make and model I’d like. It’s like dreaming up a partner only to get one and get disappointed as we moved on and evolved and our dream partner remained somewhere in the disco age of the 80s.

Please do not get me wrong. I am all for dreams and dreaming. However, I am all for dreaming the impossible and unattainable dream. In other words, I am all for dreaming make believe and creating fairytales in our heads. These kind of dreams make life easier and more bearable. The rest are simply plans.

‘When your dreams come true your true has moved’. Amen to that.
